Venus marked the start of
my taking part in main shows. She was an English thoroughbred
mare that had run at the Jockey Club in Curitiba, she got
injured and was retired prematurely from races and was moved
to reproduce. My father, on his way to find a good horse,
saw her in a field and was fascinated, he found that she
had the physical structure for show jumping and bought her
for almost nothing.
It was the start of a very
happy time of my life. As always, my wise father was right,
the mare was born to jump, she was brave, very strong, a
real winner. From the very first shows she exhibited herself
as a very special mare, winning became a routine.
I received a huge offer on
her and despite the pain in my heart, I sold Venus. With
the money, I financed my internship for a year in 1994 with
Nelson Pessoa in Belgium.
Thank
you Venus.

Dollar was a horse that marked my career. In 1990, I was
in Europe, working for Neco’s team and he was one of the
horses for which I was responsible. He was really small,
1.58m and extremely hot tempered. In Neco’s yard, he was
known as un-mountable. Nobody wanted him because nobody
managed to mount him due to his difficult temperament. Soon
we got to know and understand each other with a little bit
of affection and a lot of patience and dedication, and soon
we were competing around Europe.
Dollar
went to Brazil with me and there I participated in
all championships, won a lot of shows and Grand Prizes,
joined the Brazilian team on many occasions, as in Argentina
in 1993, when we were chosen as the best of the season.
This achievement was repeated in the South American
Seniors in Chile in 1995 when we were vice champions, and
again we were chosen as the best of the season. But the
best year was 1993, when we won the Grand Prix at the First
Edition of Visa Indoor. In the same year, we were
the champions at South American League and we represented
Brazil in the World Cup Final in Shertogenbosh - Holland.
We were also three times placed third in the Brazilian Senior
Championship.
I’m
very grateful to this little brave horse that projected
me internationally and brought me a lot of happiness, Thank
you, Dollar!
